Mailman Helps Senior Dog That Was Struggling To Climb Stairs By Building A Ramp

Jeff Kramer built a ramp for a senior dog on his mail route in Boulder, Colorado.

Are stairs or ramps better for older dogs?

As any pet owner knows, dogs come in all shapes and sizes. Some breeds are known for their athleticism, while others are more low-key. Regardless of a dog’s size or breed, however, all dogs will eventually reach an age where they may need some help getting around. This is where stairs and ramps come in. While each option has its own benefits, deciding which one is best for an older dog depends on a number of factors. For instance, if a dog has arthritis or joint pain, a ramp may be the best option since it will allow the dog to move slowly and carefully without putting too much pressure on its joints. On the other hand, if a dog is still relatively active, stairs may be the better choice since they will provide a bit more of a challenge. Ultimately, the decision of whether to use stairs or ramps with an older dog should be based on the individual dog’s needs and abilities.
