Sam was heartbroken when his parent was deployed in the Navy and was taken to a shelter. But George rescued him and they are enjoying their golden years together.
What to do with my dog when I get deployed?
When I was deployed overseas, I had to figure out what to do with my beloved dog, Charlie. I knew that it would be nearly impossible to take Charlie with me on such a long trip, and at the same time I worried about leaving him in the care of a stranger or kennel while I was away. In the end, I decided to find someone in my community who could look after him while I was gone. Luckily, there was an animal shelter nearby that matched up volunteers looking for petsitting opportunities with those who needed their dogs taken care of. This worked out perfectly, and as I finally made my way back home to reunite with Charlie, he seemed happy, healthy, and well loved. If you ever find yourself in a tough situation where you need to leave your dog but are unsure of what to do, it might be helpful to consider similar options in your area. With the right planning and communication, you can make sure that your dog receives all of the love and attention he or she needs even when you’re not around.
