You know what gets me down? You know, super bummed and sad-like? Fleas, ticks and heart worms, man, that's what! My parents don't want me to be dealing with that stuff either, so they give me Sentinel for heartworm. In case you're a new dog friend- heartworms are transmitted by mosquito bites. Heartworms have now been found in all 50 states of our union. Historically … [Read more...] about Fleas, Ticks, & Heartworms – oh my!
When you have the discerning palate of a distinguished old sea captain, not just any pet food will satisfy your hunger. I have gone on hunger strike many a day when my parents switched me to a new food that I just didn't care for. As an aside, I also don't eat for several meals on occasion when I am trying to maintain my boyish figure. It confuses the stuff out of my parents … [Read more...] about Nulo Dog Food & Vittles Vault
If you’re new to the blog, hi, I’m Ralph! I’m an 8 year old Australian Shepherd mix, or at least that’s what my parents think I am. More to come there as we explore the world of DNA testing and try to figure that out once and for all. Anyway, whatever breed I am, even as a distinguished older gentleman I still have a LOT of energy. I love zooming around my yard but I am always … [Read more...] about Tennis, anyone?
Good day, mates! Ralph here, freshly bathed and posting about my life in this little corner of the world. I have the kind of hair that gets really light and downy and starts to float away after a bath. This results in many puppy hair tumbleweeds that my mom chases after with the vacuum. Brushing me right afterwards helps with this problem a little bit. Mom and Dad use the … [Read more...] about I’ll be back….The Furminator and treats for the teeth!
I pride myself on a well groomed appearance as a distinguished southern gentleman. Most of the time, I'm pretty low maintenance and only need a few baths a year. Sometimes I take matters into my own hands, well, neck and head really, and roll in the best shampoo and perfume known to dogs- goose poop. Or any animal poop really, so fragrant...just not other dog poop, ew that … [Read more...] about I don’t sing in the shower. I perform.
It snowed! I'm ready to go outside but apparently Mom and Dad think I'm a lot more dainty than I am. Don't they know I'm meant to be a hardy working farm dog? Unfortunately right now my only charges are two rambunctious children and a lot of cute little bees but I'm hoping for some chickens or even goats and sheep soon. Anyway, they have me pegged as a delicate flower and … [Read more...] about SNOW DAY! Musher’s Paw Protection Wax
The air was crisp and clean and the sun came down in filtered rays between the tree branches. As I walked I could hear the gentle breeze stirring the trees; a sound punctuated by the bullfrogs down in the lake nearby. Whew that's all I have folks! Trying to be poetic like Mr. Frost takes a lot of energy for an old guy like me. But oh, I'm so happy in the woods! "Two roads … [Read more...] about The Road Not Taken AND Bully Sticks
Sunday dawned bright and early and we slowly got moving to the Wright Brothers Memorial which was a short distance from our hotel. We got there in time for a talk from one of the park rangers and what I got to hear was really interesting. I unfortunately had to chase down the children so my dad who has a background in mechanical engineering stayed to hear all of it. I will have … [Read more...] about Staying on the ground is all-Wright with me!
In my humble opinion, no southern gentleman's outfit is complete without a bowtie. Granted most days I am running around collarless like some kind of wild animal. A visit to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, however, is a special occasion for this guy so I pulled out all of the stops and sported my Lionet Paws collar complete with bowtie. Don't you think it's a good … [Read more...] about Lighting up the Scenery at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse
Our family is pretty laid back, but we are still a stick to the schedule kind of family if that makes sense. I think that goes along with young kids. So we decided to exercise our impulsivity one weekend in February by planning a super last minute trip to the Outer Banks when we discovered our kids had Friday AND Monday off school. We used to live in Virginia and lamented that … [Read more...] about Dashing through the Sand….dunes!
