My name is Sam, and I’m a Golden Retriever. We’re known for being very energetic and playful dogs. Unlike some other breeds, we get along great with other dogs and even strangers. One of my favorite pastimes is playing with my little humans because they seem to be the only humans able to match our energy!

The key to a successful outdoor play session is having the right toys available for us. You don’t want to give us our regular indoor toys to go outside–that’s boring. If you’re bringing us outside, it’s most likely because we need to get some exercise. The best outdoor dog toys make us work for our fun and keep us moving.

Today, I’m going to share with you some of my favorite outdoor dog toys to play with during my walk with my humans.

How to Choose Outdoor Toys for Dogs

Outdoor dog toys are meant for a different kind of play than indoor dog toys.

For the most part, indoor dog toys give us something to chew on and keep us busy. Yes, we are well aware of your tricks. You don’t want us chewing up all of your favorite sneakers, so giving us a chew toy while indoors is killing two birds with one stone.

But we all know that the real fun is outside. The sunshine, cool breeze, and fresh air really do something for a dog and puts us in a good mood.

Indoor dog toys are usually smaller and meant only for chewing. They aren’t as fun to use outside, and I’m sure that you don’t want us to drag our indoor toys through the mud and bring them back inside to mess up your favorite rug.

You want to choose outdoor dog toys that are interactive and give us a chance to exercise. The outdoors is also a great time to give us that squeaky toy that we love and that you find irritating.

Here are some of my favorite toys to play with.

ChuckIt! Flying Squirrel Spinning Dog Toy

ChuckIt! Flying Squirrel Spinning Dog Toy

The Flying Squirrel frisbee spinning dog toy is one of my favorite toys for playing fetch in the yard or park. It uses lightweight and buoyant material made for days by the pool or family getaways to the lake.

Trust me when I say that this toy is durable and can withstand a lot of chewing and tossing around. The curved sides of the flying disk make it easy to catch when my owner throws it.

This toy is made for the ultimate human-dog interaction. It even glows in the dark for a fun late-night game of catch!

Water Fountain Dog Sprinkler

Water Fountain Dog Sprinkler

Now here’s a toy made for summer fun. Little humans aren’t the only ones who like running through sprinklers! This dog fountain is mainly for drinking, but it makes staying hydrated a lot of fun.

This fountain dog sprinkler provides a continuous water supply for non-stop fun. The best part is that we can work it ourselves. All we have to do is step on the pad for a spray of clean water! Don’t worry about it getting too hot, even on those scorching summer days. This sprinkler comes with a stick-on pad so that it doesn’t burn our paws.

This water fountain also ensures that we are drinking clean water instead of rainwater that’s been sitting around for days. Yuck!

Dog Skipping Stones

Dog Skipping Stones

These skipping stones are another fun dog toy to play with in the water. These floating dog toys skid effortlessly on water like a real stone when you throw, giving you a chance to get moving in the water — one of the best forms of exercise!

These floating stones are great to use to train your dog how to swim, and you never have to worry about them getting water-logged. They come in a variety of bright neon colors so that you don’t have to worry about losing them when throwing far distances. These colorful stones are a nice change from a regular tennis ball!

Hyper Pet K9 Kannon K2 Ball Launcher

Hyper Pet K9 Kannon K2 Ball Launcher

Tired of throwing the tennis ball over and over again while playing fetch. We dogs like a lot of exercises, but we understand that not all of you humans are like us. It can get tedious and tiring doing the same motion again and again. Also, sometimes you just don’t throw far enough for our liking, and we can use more of a challenge.

Well, when my human gets too tired to throw the tennis ball, she uses this ball launcher to continue our game of fetch! This cannonball launcher has a quick trigger for the perfect launch to get your dog fetching over and over again.

You can easily adjust the distance you launch the tennis balls by pulling a lever more or less. The more you pull back, the further the tennis ball blasts, which means more distance for us to run, and thus more exercise. Yay!

Picking up is a breeze. Load tennis balls in the tennis ball thrower by placing the nuzzle over it and pulling the lever. That’s it!

iFetch Interactive Ball Launchers for Dogs

We know that you always enjoy playing fetch with us, but we do understand that sometimes your human arms get tired before we do.

Well, this outdoor dog toy means that you don’t have to throw a single ball, yet we can still play a fun game of fetch. This interactive, automatic tennis ball launcher is great for big dogs like me to get a long game of fetch in.

This automatic ball thrower launches standard size tennis balls 10, 25, or 40 feet! And all with a touch of a button. It even has a “random” distance setting if you want to keep us on our toes.

This toy is not for indoors, but if your house has the space, this interactive ball launcher is a great tool to train puppies indoors. It doesn’t require batteries, so you should never have an excuse to not have it charged!

Bacon Bubble Machine for Dogs

Bacon Bubble Machine for Dogs

Bubbles aren’t just for little humans. My human noticed that I was intrigued by her little one’s bubble machine, and noticed that I was catching most of the bubbles! Her solution: to get me my own bubble machine.

These bubbles are delicious because they are bacon-scented, something I didn’t even know existed, but makes me want to catch them.

Don’t worry, these dog bubbles are 100% non-toxic and safe for both dogs and humans. The formula is even tear-free, which means that when I accidentally get one in my eye, they don’t burn! This bubble set makes a great gift for dogs, no matter what size, age, or breed.

Notice how a lot of the outdoor dog toys I’m mentioning are also things little humans love playing with, too. It’s no coincidence since they have the best toys. Like I mentioned, I love kids!

I like my little human’s Nerf toys and always wanted some of my own. I was happy when one day I was surprised by the Nerf football! Not only was it the perfect toy for a game of catch, but it also squeaked!

This football is made from Nerf-quality material and is bright blue to make it easy for both of us to keep track of, no matter how far you throw it. This toy is quite large, making it best for larger dogs like myself!

I’ve personally always wanted to join my family in the annual Thanksgiving football game, and this football has made it possible! Get ready for endless hours of quality family fun with this Nerf football!

Fun fact, we dogs love squeaky toys because they get your attention! So having your dog play with squeaky toys outdoors will ensure that you can always hear and find him.

Dog Outdoor Bungee Hanging Toy

Dog Outdoor Bungee Hanging Toy

This toy is one of the more unique things that I like to play with and gets my muscles working. This bungee hanging tether toy is a great way to switch up our outdoor time and gives both of us a break from fetch.

The dog bungee tug toy allows us to tug, pull, and swing from the toy. I can really spend hours playing with this toy. This toy is for solo play, but I sometimes enjoy playing with a friend as well.

This toy is very easy to set up, all you need is a tree. Loop the strap through the included ball rope toy, then loop the bungee cord over a strong tree limb and pull it snug. If you don’t have a tree, you can loop it around your deck or any other structure that is strong enough to withstand our strength. Don’t worry about the bungee cord, it is virtually indestructible.

You can even adjust the height of the toy to make it easier or make it more challenging and force us to jump. It’s fun for us to play with and fun for you to watch!

Tether Tug Outdoor Tug Toy

This toy is another one for tugging but does not require a tree or anything to attach it to. For this toy, you can simply plant it in the grass, attach your favorite toy, and have us go at it.

What I like most is that it lets me move all the way around the tether tug, and the pole bends with me. You don’t have to be afraid of this tether breaking either — it’s meant for big dogs like me who weigh over 70 pounds!

Nerf Dog Rubber & Foam Ring Dog Toy

Nerf Dog Rubber & Foam Ring Dog Toy

This toy is another one of my favorite Nerf toys, but this one is a ring. Sometimes I enjoy playing fetch with a ring more than with a ball because my owner can usually throw this ring further than she’s able to throw a ball (though not as far as a frisbee can go).

This foam ring dog toy is sturdy and able to withstand some rough play, though I’ll be honest, from experience, it is not sturdy enough to survive a game of tug and war! Either way, I do have fun with this toy.

lunaoo Foldable Dog Pool

lunaoo Foldable Dog Pool

Finally, this isn’t a toy as much as it is an activity, but it is one of my favorite summer activities, so I have to add it to the list. It’s my own personal swimming pool!

This dog pool is both foldable and portable, making it convenient to move around in the summer and easy to store away in the winter. It can also be used as a kiddie pool for your little human — I don’t mind sharing.

This dog pool uses high-grade PVC and is durable, safe, and slip-resistant, thanks to its thick material. It even comes in three sizes so that every type of dog can experience having its own private pool!

Outdoor Dog Toys Are Fun!

Well, there you have it, all of my favorite outdoor dog toys. I hope that I’ve given you some ideas on toys that you can get your pup to enjoy warm weather and fresh air. With the right toys, you can turn a walk to the dog park into a new adventure every day!
