Maizey the Talented Labrador Enjoys Horseback Riding

Ever since I was a young pup, I’ve been riding horses. Sure, it probably seems a little strange to most people, but for me, it’s just a way of life.

Besides, it’s much easier than walking around. I know a lot of dogs love to run, and I do too (sometimes), but nothing beats riding a horse around! We always get a lot of attention and people taking pictures, so that’s pretty awesome, too.

Also, I can see everything up here (even the chihuahua right over there, she’s a looker!). Being up this high makes it a lot easier to find the squirrels, which means I don’t have to sniff around for them as much as I usually do.

Sometimes my mom takes me to the dog park in this outfit, and all the other dogs laugh at me. One even asked me where I parked my horse.

I thought that was a strange question. My horse is parked at my house where he always is. Not sure what he was getting at there. Some of these dogs just don’t understand my way of life out here in the country.

They’re the ones missing out because this horse and I are best friends. I don’t care how much they laugh at me, because I know I’m a lucky pup!

I’m not going to lie, when I met this horse, I was a little scared of him. He is a heckin’ big boy! And he doesn’t have a bork like I do, he’s got this big “neigh” sound he makes, and he shakes his lips at me!

At first, I ran away from him and then activated bork mode to let him know who was boss. But after a while, I got used to him (and he got used to me because he didn’t like me much either).

Now we are simply inseparable. One time I even tried to sneak him into the house to sleep in my doggy bed with me, but my mom got mad about that and yelled at me for letting the horse come in the house.

I think once we are done with this ride, we are going to find some critters to chase.

My favorite kind to chase are squirrels, but he likes to jump at the birds. He says he likes the way they flap their wings at him.

Either way, we have quite the day planned out for ourselves, so I had better get to hopping off this saddle and on to finding the squirrels!
